Quizzes and Surveys | |
Creating Inclusive Communities
Instructor: Robert Tomasulo Activity Description: To foster inclusivity both in the classroom AND when engaging the community in arts-based activism later in the semester, students research inclusive practices during the first week of classes and share their findings to a google site (that they can reference later in the semester—and their careers). For the next class, the students collaborate with a partner or group to lead an activity with the class that fosters inclusivity; this not only serves as an "icebreaker," but also establishes these inclusive practices as part of the foundation for our work that semester. Due: Week 1
Creating Our Class Community/Reflecting and Creating Our Community
Instructor: Jennifer Stratton Activity Description: During the first week, students do a survey called, Creating Our Class Community. The survey has a similar structure but is tweaked based on the course objectives. Overall, the focus of the survey is getting to know the students in a way that relates to the course content, goal setting, and identifying needed supports. Due: Week 1
First Day Questionnaire
Instructor: Sandra Haddad Activity Description: This activity is a 1-minute questionnaire designed to foster a sense of connection and understanding between students and the instructor, creating a supportive learning environment. The responses aim to offer insights that go beyond academic aspects, allowing for personalized guidance and building a more inclusive classroom experience. Due: Week 1
"Fútbol, cenotes y mole" - Early Engagement Cultural Activity
Instructor: Adina Alexandru Activity Description: Students watch an Edpuzzle short cultural video about the underground caves in Mexico which contain permanent water. Mexico is the setting for our video program in Spanish 114. As they watch the video in Spanish they need to answer 10 questions that pop up on the screen throughout the video. Students will receive the equivalent of a weekly quiz if they complete it BEFORE the first class. Due: Prior to the first day of class
Let’s Get to Know You | |
Instructor: Robert Tomasulo Activity Description: This is a brief "get to know you" survey that asks for some helpful background information (grad year, major, prior musical experience etc.) and prompts students to reflect upon their musical goals/aspirations for the semester. The survey also offers an opportunity for students to share with us anything that we may need to know to both help them be successful in this course and give the best possible instruction. Due: Week 1
Lesson One Exit Questions
Instructor: Kenneth O'Konis Activity Description: This quiz is assigned to ensure students are ready to use Lewis Structures, hybridization designations and other topics covered in General Chemistry as they begin their Organic Chemistry journey. Due: Week 1
Pre- and Post- Math Assessment and Survey
Instructor: Kevin O’Konis Activity Description: This math review assessment is designed to ensure students are up to speed with the type of mathematical calculations used in General Chemistry. Due: Week 1
Start of the Semester Questionnaire
Instructor: Kevin Barlowski Activity Description: In this activity, students are asked to complete a "Start of the Semester Questionnaire" before class begins. The purpose is to provide the instructor with insights into individual students, their course expectations, and how the instructor can best support them throughout the semester. The questionnaire serves as a proactive measure to tailor the learning experience to the students' needs. Due: Week 1 |
